Crispy parmesan crusted sourdough bread with really make this Spinach and Ham Strata delightful and full of deep flavor.
While this meal is delicious anytime, I ALWAYS make Spinach and Ham Strata anytime we have leftover holiday ham.
This dish is the perfect brunch casserole as well. You can use any crusty bread loaf, however, you’ll get the best depth of flavor from sourdough.
Spinach and Ham strata is also a favorite food to serve at baby showers too!

Ingredients you’ll need
- Loaf sourdough bread
- oil
- onion
- frozen spinach pkg
- red bell pepper
- leftover ham (around 2 cups)
- 2 cups Italian cheese blend (or 1 cup mozzarella & 1 cup parmesan)
- 7 eggs
- 2 1/2 cups milk
- salt
- pepper
- nutmeg
- nonstick spray
Prep
This recipe requires a few steps but don’t let that stop you. It’s quite easy, really! SautĆ© veggies together. Add them into a large bowl with your bread cubes and half of the cheese. Toss bread, veggies and ham together in large bowl.
In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs, milk and seasonings together. I like to beat the eggs first a little before adding the milk so that they blend together better without as much milk sloshing around.
Assembly
Grease a 9×13 baking dish. Add the bread/ham mixture to the pan. Pour the eggs over the bread evenly. Sprinkle on remaining 1 cup of cheese on top of bread.
Bake
Bake at 350F for 45 minutes or until set. Bread and cheese will be crispy and golden on top. Yummy! Serve and enjoy!
